WORD-FORMATIVE TYPES WITH THE SUFFIX –ָ״ֵׂ IN THE BULGARIAN DIALECTS SPOKEN IN MOESIA, THRACE AND MACEDONIA

Elena Kyaeva

(Summary)

The paper presents and analyses some word-formative materials including the suffix -טרעו from the dialects spoken throughout the Bulgarian territory.

On the basis of the word-formative analysis some conclusions are drawn about the polyfunctionality of the suffix -טרעו, which has a wider semantic word-formative field in the dialects than in literary Bulgarian. The suffix is active in forming toponyms, magnifying or deprecative forms, as well as in the literary language. The dialects having the formant -טרעו also form attributives, as well as active, resultative, substantial non-active, instrumental, and collective names. Some cases of diminutive formations also occur.

The preference is emphasized of the suffix -טרעו for joining with desubstantive roots, but it also relates to deverbal, and more rarely to deadjective roots.

A survey is made of the names having the suffix -טרעו from the various word-formative categories in the dialects of Macedonia, Moesia and Thrace. The comparison shows identity in the functioning and semantics of the suffix.

The names presented testify to the richness and the big word-formative possibilities of Bulgarian dialects.
