station and asked for permission to take the German, Bulgarian and of
course, the Italian flag, and to make a demonstration. But there was a
rejection from the Italian authorities, and they did not give a
permission to take the flags; despite the resistance we implemented our

** Obviously the
event - the formation of a Local
Bulgarian Campaign Committee was accompanied by suitable official
ceremonies. But the fact, that the people required not only the
Bulgarian, but also the German and the Italian flag is not surprising.
Lazaropole was in the Italian zone, and the not rising of those flags
would lead to a conflict with the Italian authorities. Thai
demonstration obviously irritated the Italians, because they knew very
well that in Lazaropole lived neither Italians, nor Germans; the
population wanted the Bulgarian flag, i.e the population did not want
the flags of the countries from the Axis, otherwise they would also ask
for the Japanese and other ones; it expressed its strive to be accessed
to Bulgaria.
